Keeper At Home, Why?
Being a keeper at home means to take care of a home. Not just your future home but your parents home while you are still young. If you keep your parent's home ( or help keep it.) It will be easier to take care of your own family and home someday.
I have been thinking a lot about this lately. I have read some very good articles too on being a keeper of the home. But really, being a keeper of the home isn't just cleaning and chasing kids around. It's being a servant to your family, parents, and siblings. To have peace in your home, and being a godly woman. (Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.
Proverbs 31:28)
It's easier to start young, that's why your mom is going to nag you to clean something or another. Really it's not because she likes to nag or that she is nagging, but she is trying to teach you to how to keep a home. Titus 2:3-5 The aged woman likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good obedient to their husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.)
Ok there's a lot in these three verses, and quite a few questions! Like....... "How am I to love my husband and obey him when I don't have one yet!?"
Well, Love your father and obey him if you can do that then you can do it with your future husband. Also, keeping your father's house will help you practice! ;)
I don't have children of my own yet, and hopefully not for a while because I have my younger siblings to love! And hey! If your the youngest you probably have younger relatives! :) If you practice loving your siblings (or younger relatives) you'll be able to love your children someday.
I always thought that when I'm older, I will be a better sister and mother someday, but really if your not nice to your siblings now you won't get any better when you're older.
Do you know the saying, "You can't teach a old dog new tricks?'' Well it's sort of right. If you don't practice being a keeper at home you'll never learn how! Or you will, the hard way.
(For all mothers who read this, please note that I used nagging for that's what the normal kid thinks, which I think is wrong so, no hard feelings right? (-; )
Is it Biblical?
So after some research I found that it is Biblical! Just read Proverbs 31: 10-31. Here are some verses to just prove it! :)
(She looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness. Proverbs 31: 27)
(Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. 31)
You can also read Titus 2:3-5
Why should I learn now?
Like I said before you can't teach a old dog new tricks. So it will be hard for you to learn how to run a home when you have no idea!
I have a little story for you, There was a girl that didn't know how keep a house(You know cook ,clean.) but when she got older she got hitched, yup, married to a handsome guy. So, as the months went by she didn't know how to keep a house. She had to learn the hard way, unfortunately. But through the years she got better and better.
It's a pretty good story huh? :) Well, back to the point. Since she didn't learn when she was younger, it took her awhile to learn when she was married! Which is easier? Learning when your younger and have it come naturally to you or learn as you get older? I pick the younger for sure!
That's why you have chores at home! (And if you don't, give your self a chore!) So you will learn how to keep a home!
One last thing before I go. A keeper at home is also a godly woman, so start that young! Read the Bible and pray! Please, I encourage you to read Proverbs31 and Titus 2 and write down what you learned from those passages!
(Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10)
Bye, Ya'll! Until next time!
This blog is all about our family farm! It'll have pictures, jokes and funny, true stories! A new post will (hopefully) be posted every other week. You don't want to miss any of these hilarious posts! :)

Life As A Homeschooler. (Pros and cons of it.)
I love being a homeschooler! I think it's the best thing ever! Yes, I do know what's like going to a public school. I went up till I was in 5 grade. Personally, I wouldn't want to go back. I love how my mom is my teacher and she can train us up the way the Lord wants.
But, today I'm going to tell you the pros and cons of it.
The Pros!
1.We can start any time of the day just as long as we get our school done!
2.Doing school in your PJs! (But I heard that public schoolers already do that!) ;-)
3.If you go somewhere during school hours, it's a field trip.
4.You get done WAY before 3:00.
5.You don't have to take the bus to school.
6.Stay in bed and do school.
7.You get one on one attention because your the only one in your grade.
8. Don't have to go to gym class!
The Cons!
1.If you go to the store during school hours, you get looks from people.
2.You don't get to go on cool field trips.
3.If you have friends that go to public school, you have to wait for hours before you can call them because they are in school.
4.When people ask what grade your in either you can't remember or it's complicated. (Example: you do 9 grade math, 10 grade bio ,and/or 8 grade grammar.)
5. Sometimes we have to do school in the summer.
6. You can't go to the park or anywhere during school hours. (Before 3:00)
7.You can't barrow library books from the school library.
Well there you are! Your pros and cons of homeschooling! In Proverbs 22:6 " Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he shall not depart from it." What's a better way to train up your child? Send them to some school and let some one else do it? Or you train your child the way God wants you to.
I have to say, I feel a lot closer to my parents since they started homeschooling us. I look forward to it and love how I can stay home and let mom train me to be the woman God want's me to be.
That's all for now! Grace

Hay Day
Hay day, Ugh, that day was the most hectic hay day ever!!
Ok, so it started as a normal Saturday.
We woke up, ate , milked and did inside chores. My dad asked if my mom wanted to rake hay. Partly because he couldn't at the moment. So she did.
(Just to let you guys know, I got a ton done that day! I cleaned the house, my room , lunged the horses, and altered two skirts. )
So anyways mom was gone the whole day and dad was home for a little while working on the baler.
Once daddy had the baler fixed (Or so he thought) he set out to bail hay.
I was home watching Dick Van Dyke or Andy Griffith with the kids. (After I got done with every thing.) After watching about a dozen old TV shows Becca wanted to go and ride bikes. So of course I said yes. I mean when they are out of the house it's a lot easier to do some more cleaning. I made a beeline to the dirty dishes in the sink and started to wash them when I looked out the window and saw grandpa. (I still don't rightly know why he stopped by.) Then I saw Becca coming to the house screaming, " Cappuccino had piglets!!!!!!!" I stopped what I was doing and ran out to the pig pen. Sure enough there was ten piglets grunting and squealing. They looked like they were born that morning. We found then at 5 O'clock, I think. Cappuccino had eleven but only ten survived.
Becca was so excited she wanted mom and dad to get home fast. Well, mom came home and right away went to the pig pen. Becca started to beg to bottle fed one. Mom for some reason looked out to the cows pen and saw one of our milk cows, Donut, had a calf. So that day would be the day of babies. So we where up till 10 getting all of are new little ones comfortable.
Becca was able to keep one to bottle feed.
Saturday was a busy day! Here are some pictures! :)
Well, that's all!! Talk to you soon! ;)
Grace.

The Storm
Hello!
I'm sorry I haven't blogged! There was a huge storm and we didn't have any electricity for 38 hours.
So I took pictures of the trees that fell for this post. Thanks to God, none of are buildings where damaged . Though, it was close.
On Monday night at 12:30 at night, the worst storm I had ever seen started. Very strong winds, heavy rain, and the power went out a little before 1.
All the kids where sleeping in my room, (It's up stairs.) because it was a hot night. I was waken up by the wind and rain. I heard a faint crash of a tree and the shingles on the roof being ripped off. And all of a sudden daddy was in my room telling us kids to go down stairs to sleep in the living room. My parents thought we might have to go into the basement.
I knew that the storm must have been bad for dad to come upstairs at 1 in the morning .
I was right the storm was awful I have never seen one so bad in all of my fourteen years.
Here are a few picture's of the damage.

This tree we found the night after the storm. Luckily it
didn't hit the richey or the barn.
As you can see, t this tree looks far from the wood stove but
really it was only a foot from hitting it.
Our mailbox was the only thing that didn't
survived the storm. The tree was
cleared away when I took the picture.
And a tree fell by our pond.
Ok so these picture's are hard to see so bare with me.
A tree fell right where our steps for
the river. Right where we swim! It almost hit are
boat in the river! But thankfully it didn't.
Here are some more random pictures of trees that broke
during the storm.
That's all. God was really watching over us! A lot of the trees could have fallen on buildings but, they didn't. So praise God! :)
Better go Bye!

Johnstons Riverview Farm NEWS!
Howdy!
Today I'm going to do something a little different. As you tell be the title it's going to be about our farm.
I know in the past I said I was going to post stuff that I did or something like that. Well, I'm boring! I can't think of any projects I did that I can write about!
So from now on! Every week (hopefully!) I will write about our farm! Yes, I do post pictures and yes I do write about it. BUT! It's not "Johnstons Riverview Farm NEWS"!
So................................................................................
I proudly present Riverview Farm NEWS!!! This will keep you updated on what's happening on the Farm! :) I'll post pictures, have interviews with everyone that lives here, and (Drum roll please!) Write about "ADVENTURES AT JOHNSTONS RIVERVIEW FARM!" (You just ask some of my friends, there is ALWAYS an adventure here!) :)
Well, let's get started! :)
A lot has been happening here at the farm, We painted the milk house to match the barn.
Yes, they are cute!

(No I don't have the picture of the barn, I will soon though!) :)
Ginger had piglets. Six cute little piggies!
For some reason they look like sausages lined up.
Is that wrong? ;)
These little cuties were born the day before Father's Day
and the day that my cousin Tristan was born! :)
Ginger was a first time mother and a good one!
Becca came running to the house and she was crying.
I thought that she died or something! The she smiled really
big and said, "Ginger had piglets!!!" Then she turned
around and ran back to her piggies. Becca was so happy and excited
that her pig (Ginger )had piglets.!
Daisy(our goat) eats everything!!!
Trees
and dog food!
She does eat more but, I didn't get any pictures.
We try to feed the dogs before we let the goat out but then the chickens come and eat it.
You'll never win dogs!
Yes, our goat and chickens free range.
We always let our chickens take over the farm in the summer.
Then the goat came. She hates being by herself. She loves to be with the kittens and dogs.
(unless they take her chair, yes, she has a couch-like thing.) We could never keep her in.
So she thinks she's a dog. Daisy cries at night if you don't put her in the trailer with the kittens.
She cries if you forget about her in the trailer the next morning.
She cries if you put her to bed too early.
Yes, she is a goat a very demanding goat. But, we all love her!
(Even though she jumps on daddy's work car.)
Well, that's all for now! Bye!

Sewing, sewing, sewing.
Hello my friends! ;)
As you can see todays topic is sewing. (One of my favorite things to do.)So I'm going to show you a super easy skirt pattern! I did three in about a hour and a half.
Normally I don't use patterns, I go by pictures off of Pinterest or off a sewing book. But I felt adventurous.
This pattern isn't really a pattern, my grandma made us skirts with straight stitching all the time but, It's hard to run in them. So I thought all night trying to figure out how to make them more fuller. So the challenge was excepted! :)
(Please do not take any notice of the pealing wallpaper! ;) Thank you!)
(I don't have any pictures of how I did it so I'll try to explain it .)
What you'll need is:
Scissors
Measuring tape
Fabric of your chose.
Pins
Safety pins
Elastic
SEWING MACHINE!!!!
Lace maybe?
Ok, so all I did was lay out my folded fabric and cut out a nice large square.(the smaller the square the smaller the skirt.) You shouldn't have two pieces of fabric. You should only have one long piece.
Next you hem the top. (MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE ROOM FOR YOUR ELASTIC!!)
After sewing I took my elastic and put a safety pin threw it and started to fish it through that hem.
But, if you know me, I like to take the easy way. You see after doing this twice I got pretty sick of it so I just sewed the elastic on when I was hemming the top.
Next I hemmed the bottom and then sewed the sides together! Tada!!!!!
(I added the lace when I hemmed the bottom.)
This one is a red and blue plaid.
You can make these skirts as full or as long or as small as you want! Be creative! :)
No I didn't sew this skirt. This pretty skirt, was off a big, short dress that I got from a thrift store.
I really liked the bottom of it so much that I bought it. My scissors came out! (After a while of thinking about what I should do with the dress.)
Off went the top. To the bottom all I had to do was add elastic!! ;) You can do this to a ton of dresses!
It's so easy too!!! Though you might have to hem the top of the skirt before you put in the elastic.
Well, That's all for now!! Oh I want to thank Becca for being my model!!!
Do you have a sewing challenge or a suggestion of what I should blog about? Please leave a comment below or email me! ;)

New memebers of the Family!!!
Hey! Sorry that I haven't been posting much lately! I've been sort of lazy.
We have a few members of the family that would like to be introduced ,finally.
I have some pictures so, I'll tell you about them when you see the pictures! ;)
Maxie Or Max
We have a few members of the family that would like to be introduced ,finally.
I have some pictures so, I'll tell you about them when you see the pictures! ;)
Maxie Or Max
Maxie was born a while a go in March.
He was a big boy too! We thought we would
lose him or his momma but they made it through!!
His Mother is Yours Truly ROSEBUD!!
And his father is Mack. Maxie looks and acts just like them!
Oh there's the proud momma!
(I'm sorry I don't have a picture of the daddy.)
Awww!! He acts just like his momma!
Strong willed like his daddy!
And cute as ever!!! ;) Yes, he mine! :)
Now to the pigs. Yes I said pigs. Becca has always wanted pigs so we were just going to get one......................
The one to the Left is Ginger. The Middle one is Evil Dr. Pork chop and the last one is Cappuccino. |
But as you can see we got three. Yes, three HUGE smelly pigs!!! No
I'm not that fond of pigs. (Sigh) Oh well,
Becca got what she wanted. Ginger(Left) and Cappuccino (Right)
Are two pregnant sows. And Evil Dr. Pork Chop (Middle) is a boar
Oh you may call Evil Dr. Pork Chop, Spot, for that's
his first given name. But I named him Evil Dr. Pork Chop because,
I don't really like him and think he's Evil and can only see
pork chops and bacon when I look at him.
Now last but not least! Are new Bull Popeye!!
Isn't he cute!! He's a grass fed Jersey bull.
He is one of are newest members of the family!! ;)
I can't say much about him because I don't
know much about him! He's out with the beef cows so I don't
know his personality. But, He's really cute! :)
Well that's all for now!!! :)
Bye ya'll!!!
