Decluttering

Howdy!!

So my originally plan was to talk about the evil of sugar but, I can't preach what I don't do. Or something like that.

Instead, I'm talking about decluttering! (Getting rid of stuff.)  I have been on this kick!
(Yes I have  these  a lot.) But this one was a good one!

Just to give you an idea of how much I'm getting rid of, I'll show you a picture.
Yup, that's right. Three jammed packed garbage bags and one Wal-Mart bag.
And guess who's room that came from. That's right, mine.

(Also, Ali my little sis, got rid of a garbage bag of clothes!)

             DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!

And I didn't even think I was a pack rat! I guess we all are in our own ways.  My mom phrases my room as..........

"Your room would be messy or full of junk, but in a organized sort of way."

So, I think I just got used to every thing being organized in a chaos way. That I didn't even relies how much I had.

  I started my room last night and finished this morning. So it really doesn't take that long.

Why should we declutter?
+++++++++++++++=+++

  Well, for me I was just so stressed out because all I could think of was my messy room or the girls closet. I really couldn't focus on things that where more important.

After I got  rid of a ton of JUNK yes JUNK! I felt a lot better!

When should I start?
++++++++++++++++

Start when ever! But first pick up your room this makes less of a mess.

What should I get rid of?
++++++++++++++++++

Clothes, nick knacks, any thing that is really just laying around and collecting dust.

 If it makes you room look small or cluttered , then get rid of it.

When you are having a hard time parting with something
 ask yourself these questions!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. What is the purpose of it?

2. Would I buy it?

3. Could I use it some where else?

4. Could I give it to someone who will really use it?

These questions really help! Whether it's clothes or crafts. Downsizing will make your life a lot easier.

My mom read these verses to use during Devotions. I thought they  fit perfectly!!

 Matthew 6: 19-21
19: Lay not yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust
destroy and where thieves break in and steel:

20: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth destroy,
and where thieves do not break in and steel:

21: For where your treasure in there will your heart be also.                                                           This verse really says a lot about our stuff.
That we really shouldn't lay up treasures upon earth. The more things we have, the more we want. Then we lose focus on God.

Ok, think about all the stuff you have. What if God calls you to move? Can you just pack up the night before and  leave? I know I couldn't!  I know what your thinking, "I'm just a teenager! God wouldn't have me move!"  Well, God works in different ways.

About two years ago we felt that God was calling us to move.  We went to look at houses, there was a lot that we liked but we didn't feel right about them. So then we thought God was testing us to trust him. Or that,  Dad just was having moving itch.

 But during that year we got  rid of quiet a bit.
Then over those two years we got rid of a little more. Then  out of the blue we are moving! Like this summer! Lord willing. You never know what God has in stored for you!

 Don't be so weighed down  that you can't do Gods will.

Sometimes  I like to go look at all my old toys that I want my (future.) kids to have.Then if you think about it, you are giving all your junk to your kids. Who will probably have there own junk to take care of!

 I think its ok to have ONE medium size box for your kids.  But really, as you get older and your (future) kids get older, that "stuff" will probably be tossed or broke.

So, throw or donate all of your JUNK! Give it to some one who needs it or give it as little gifts.

 Well, that's all!!

Here's a link to a  post on this subject, please take time to read! :)

What I have been doing lately.

 Howdy!!!

I WAS going to show you how to do some of the things I have made, but technology is fighting me. That's why you haven't gotten this post sooner.

So I'll show you some pictures of what I have been doing.
                                               Scarves!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I sewed these scarves, the middle one is a infinity, while the one on the right is a normal one with a loop to put it through. The left one is a normal one, but I'm thinking about making it a infinity.

                                                  These two scarves (Top and bottom.) Are
                                      Finger knitted! Becca loves to finger knit and its so easy too!!
                                      :) These are for sale $3 (The bottom one is a navy blue.)

                                                    This is a REALLY bad picture of an arm knitted scarf.
                                                     Kaity is making these and selling them for $4

Head bands/ear warmers
===================================

And I made these knitted ear warmers/ headbands. :)
I'm selling these too, but I don't know about the $.
Renewed stuff
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Ok so this is the place where I take stuff and making it into something new. I'm sorry I don't have before pictures! I'll try next time!!
This skirt and short sweater thingy (I have no idea what's it called! Therefore it will be called thingy.)
used to be a lace dress. Now its a lace skirt and lace thingy. :)
I chopped, hemmed, and altered! I added buttons to the thingy.
 It's pretty cute! :)

This used to be old Columbia capris. They where so comfy when I wore them last year, I wanted to make a skirt out of it. As you can see I made a pencil skirt. (A pencil skirt is a skirt you can only take baby steps in!)  And me, a farm girl, I walk like a lumberjack. (That's what me dad says anyways.) :)
So I can't walk in this, which is a bummer because it's cute.  So if you want it you can buy it for $4. It has a blue stain that you can barley see. And needs to be ironed.

I said it! I said the cursed word!!! Iron!! (Who ever doesn't like ironing, knows what I'm talking about! ) ;)
                                               Now last but not lest, the T-SHIRT BAG!!!!!!
***********************************************************************************

This is a super easy bag to make! I made one this morning at 7, Becca wasn't happy to wake up to the sound of me sewing. Anyways, all you do is take a old t shirt and cut the sleeves off,  cut the neckline wider, then you sew the bottom up. (Use the zig zag stich.)

Boom! A t shirt bag!!! ;) I like mine a lot!  It has different shades of blue! :)

Tips: You can use a plait or a bowl to guide you on the neck line, or like me just wing it! :)
Also stretchy t-shirt might work better then you can really stuff it.

Well, have fun!!

Say what??

Howdy friends!

I'm posting today because I got lazy last week. So there'll be two post in one week! :)

This is going to be about me. I know, I'm so humble! Joking!
You'll learn a little bit more about me in this post. So, Enjoy! :)

[Please do not mention my name when you are telling some one about this crazy blog.
You may laugh and make fun of it, as long as it's not at my face.
Please note I am weird, strange, and sort of sarcastic.]

                                                  Like that? ^ I made it myself! On the computer!
                                                   (Don't worry, I know it's lame.)

Ok so I'm going to be 15 in a couple of months and I'm learning how to drive, SOON!
I'm 5 foot 4 with long brown hair and bluish eyes.

I live on a farm, we have 3 horse, 1 donkey, 14 cows, chickens, 3 pigs, 2 dogs, and 4 cats

I wear skirts now. I used to wear pants but I  felt like the Lord wanted me to start wearing skirts, so I do! And yes you can, run, ride bikes, horses, and all of that. I don't care if my friends are wearing pants, Hey! So what?  Who cares whether people wear skirts or pants.

I'm in 9th grade and I love school. (Yes, I'm homeschooled.)  I really like grammar and creation!. My favorite about science (creation) is the evolution vs. creation debates! I would love to have a friendly debate some time!!  I  also like math when I get it! :)

Reading, I love it!! I like to read KBR, Nancy Drew, Patchwork Mysteries, and the Bible. Also sometimes I'll read like a history book or evidence of the Bible books for fun.(I know I'm weird.)

My favorite animals are horses, cows, and dogs! Cat's are my VERY lest favorite. Unless they are kittens then they are just my least favorite. ( I sort of like sheep too, unless they get out.)

What I like to do for fun is, read, clean, play with my horse or cow, sew, knit or organize.

I like to watch "Little House On the Prairie", "Andy Griffith", "Ken Ham", "Bananas", and pretty much all the old TV shows

Well I think that's all! :)

 Bye Ya'll!!! :)

Long time no read! :)

Howdy!

Sorry that I haven't posted in a long time!  It has been  nuts around here lately! I'll list them off for you.

1. My grandma was in the hospital all week last week because of her appendix burst.(She's home now recovering please keep praying for her! Thanks!)

2. Since grandma was in the hospital we wanted mom to take care of her there. So with mom gone almost all week, I was the top woman of the house. Which was fine and fun until it was time to feed my family of hungry wolves;They are sooooooooooooo picky! (But they did really good!)

3. It's been STINKING COLD!!!

4.Horses water freezes all day, so I have to haul water at night.  My dad and/or siblings are nice enough to do it for me in the morning. (It's not so bad but when you have a horse that plays with her  water after making you think that she's still thirsty, is no fun! And  a donkey that brays and brays if your late.)

4.One word.......................................... Algebra.

The final one:

5. Siblings   But hey, There great! Some of the time. ;)

 Yeah, that's the downfall lately but I have done some good things too!

So lets look at................................................

                              Johnston's Riverview News!!!!!
                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                                                        Lately on Johnston's farm...
                                                        =====================
Reporter Grace: So what's new on the Johnston's Riverview Farm?
Farmer Grace: Well, a few weeks ago we bought a jersey. She is about to calf any time now her name is Molly Jane. Also, just today we sold two cows and my dad came home with another jersey girl. She's milking right now though she doesn't have a name yet.
RG: Are you expecting any claves this spring?
FG: No, all the cows are calving in the summer maybe late spring. Our pigs though are going to have piglets soon!
RG: Fun, do you do anything to the piglets or calves when they are born in the dead of winter? How do you prepare for that?
FG: For the piglets we set up a heat lamp so right when they are born we can put them under it. We also make sure they have a lot of hay. That way they can burrow under it to keep warm. With calves we set up a pen in the barn and when they are born we just bring them in or we pen the momma up when we think that she's close.
RG: What do you do when you don't see the baby be born and it's below zero?
FG: My dad checks on that cow right before he goes to bed and right away in the morning, but sometimes  they have them when we don't know. We bring the calf in the barn, if it's still wet we blow dry it or dry it with a towel. My dad has brought a calf into the bathtub because it was so cold!
Reporter Grace: I'm Reporter Grace and thank you Farmer Grace for being with us here.  And Thank you all for tuning in.
Keeper at home.
                       Keeper At Home, Why?
 Being a  keeper at home means  to take care of a home. Not just your future home but your parents home while you are still young. If you keep your parent's home ( or help keep it.) It will be easier to take care of your own family and home someday.
I have been thinking a lot about this lately. I have read some very good articles too on being a keeper of the home.  But really, being a keeper of the home isn't just cleaning and chasing kids around. It's being a servant to your family, parents, and siblings. To have peace in your home, and being a godly woman. (Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.
Proverbs 31:28)
It's easier to start young, that's why your mom is going to nag you to clean something or another. Really it's not because she likes to nag or that she is nagging, but she is trying to teach you to how to keep a home. Titus 2:3-5  The aged woman likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers  of good things; that they may teach the younger women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good obedient to their husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.)
Ok there's a lot in these three verses, and quite a few questions! Like....... "How am I to love my husband and obey him when I don't have one yet!?"
  Well, Love your father and obey him if you can do that then you can do it with your future husband. Also, keeping your father's house will help you practice! ;)
I don't have children of my own yet, and hopefully not for a while because I have my younger siblings to love! And hey! If your the youngest you probably have younger relatives! :) If you practice loving your siblings (or younger relatives) you'll be able to love your children someday.
 I always thought that when I'm older, I will be a better sister and mother someday, but really if your not nice to your siblings now you won't get any better when you're older.
Do you know the saying, "You can't teach a old dog new tricks?''  Well it's sort of right. If you don't practice being a keeper at home  you'll never learn how! Or you will, the hard way.
(For all mothers who read this, please note that I used nagging for that's what the normal kid thinks,  which I think is wrong so, no hard feelings right? (-; )
                                             Is it Biblical?
So after some research I found that it is Biblical!  Just read Proverbs 31: 10-31. Here are some verses to just prove it! :)
(She looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness. Proverbs 31: 27)
(Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. 31)
You can also read Titus 2:3-5
                          Why should I learn now?
Like I said before you can't teach a old dog new tricks. So it will be hard for you  to learn how to run a home when you have no idea!
I have a little story for you, There was a girl that didn't know how keep a house(You know cook ,clean.) but when she got older she got hitched, yup, married to a handsome guy.  So, as the months went by she didn't know how to keep a house. She had to learn the hard way, unfortunately.  But through the years she got better and better.
It's a pretty good story huh? :) Well, back to the point. Since she didn't learn when she was younger, it took her awhile to learn when she was married! Which is easier? Learning when your younger and have it come naturally to you or learn as you get older?  I pick the younger for sure!
That's why you have chores at home! (And if you don't, give your self a chore!) So you will learn how to keep a home!
One last thing before I go. A keeper at home is also a godly woman, so start that young! Read the Bible and pray! Please, I encourage you to read Proverbs31 and Titus 2 and write down what you learned from those passages!
(Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10)
Bye, Ya'll! Until next time!
Life As A Homeschooler. (Pros and cons of it.)
I love being a homeschooler! I think it's the best thing ever! Yes, I do know what's like going to a public school. I went up till I was in 5 grade. Personally, I wouldn't want to go back. I love how my mom is my teacher and she can train us up the way the Lord wants.
But, today I'm going to tell you the pros and cons of it.
The Pros!
1.We can start any time of the day just as long as we get our school done!
2.Doing school in your PJs! (But I heard that public schoolers already do that!) ;-)
3.If you go somewhere during school hours, it's  a field trip.
4.You get done WAY before 3:00.
5.You don't have to take the bus to school.
6.Stay in bed and do school.
7.You get one on one attention because your the only one in your grade.
8. Don't have to go to gym class!
The Cons!
1.If you go to the store during school hours,you get looks from people.
2.You don't get to go on cool field trips.
3.If you have friends that go to public school, you have to wait for hours before you can call them because they are in school.
4.When people ask what grade your in either you can't remember or it's complicated. (Example: you do 9 grade math, 10 grade bio ,and/or 8 grade grammar.)
5. Sometimes we have to do school in the summer.
6. You can't go to the park or anywhere during school hours. (Before 3:00)
7.You can't barrow library books from the school library.
Well there you are! Your pros and cons of homeschooling!  In Proverbs 22:6 " Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he shall not depart from it."  What's a better way to train up your child? Send them to some school and let some one else do it? Or you train your child the way God wants you to.
I have to say, I feel a lot closer to my parents since they started homeschooling us. I look forward to it and love how I can stay home and let mom train me to be the woman God want's me to be.
That's all for now! Grace
If you have more questions about "what's it's like being a homeschooler" you can email me at: askgracej@gmail.com
Hay Day
Hay day, Ugh, that day was the most hectic hay day ever!!
Ok, so it started as a normal Saturday.
We woke up, ate , milked and did inside chores. My dad asked if my mom wanted to rake hay. Partly because he couldn't at the moment. So she did.
 (Just to let you guys know, I got a ton done that day!  I cleaned the house, my room , lunged the horses, and altered two skirts. )
So anyways mom was gone the whole day and dad was home for a little while working on the baler.
Once daddy had the baler fixed (Or so he thought) he set out to bail hay.
 I was home watching Dick Van Dyke or Andy Griffith with the kids. (After I got done with every thing.) After watching about a dozen old TV shows Becca wanted to go and ride bikes. So of course I said yes. I mean when they are out of the house it's a lot easier to  do some more cleaning. I  made a beeline to the dirty dishes in the sink and started to wash them when I looked out the window and saw grandpa.  (I still don't rightly know why he stopped by.) Then I saw Becca coming to the house  screaming, " Cappuccino had piglets!!!!!!!"  I stopped what I was doing and ran out to the pig pen. Sure enough there was ten piglets grunting and squealing.  They looked like they were born that morning. We found then at 5 O'clock, I think. Cappuccino had eleven but only ten survived.
Becca was so excited she wanted mom and dad to get home fast. Well, mom came home and right away went to the pig pen. Becca started to beg to bottle fed one. Mom for some reason looked out to the cows pen and saw one of our milk cows, Donut, had a calf. So that day would be the day of babies. So we where up till 10 getting all of are new little ones comfortable.
Becca was able to keep one to bottle feed.
Saturday was a busy day! Here are some pictures! :)
Here are the new piglets!
 And their proud momma!
 Here's another picture!
 Ok, our new bull calf is on the left and are old new
heifer calf is on the right. You see she's old to us but new to you! :)
 Fern is her name!
 Boy or Buddy is his name!
 And here is the piglet that Becca is bottle feeding,
Raisin is her name. She is so cute and so much fun!
 Well, that's all!! Talk to you soon! ;)
Grace.
